The Top 5 Perfumes I Would Like To Smell On Your Lady

I hate to start out by using an overused cliché but I’m at loss to think of anything else. Folks, it’s “that time of the year again.”  Normally nice, civil and sane people have turned into a Golems created by the good people of Madison Avenue. People who normally dig helping their fellow man will now step over them for a good deal on a TV set.

Another sign of the times are the many sad clueless men running the malls looking to buy their women a nice perfume. This write up was inspired by the third call I received from a buddy, “hey man, XXXXX wants perfume this year, I don’t know @#$# about perfume, any ideas?”

With this in mind, I thought I would jot down my Top 5 favorite perfumes I would like to smell on YOUR lady. These are scents that have either sparked up my male drive or took me to a good place somewhere in the back of mind. Each scent is based on a woman from my past.

Two of these scents were released in 1997 and1998. To some people that’s an “old” scent from back in the day. Let me say this much about older perfumes and the women who wear them. To me a woman who can wear an older perfume is a woman who can buck the current hip trends and create and maintain their own image while dabbling in the current trends .

5. Hypnotic Poison by Dior-Hypnotic Poison released in 1998 is considered a “mature” scent that features:

· Top Notes-Bitter Almond, Caraway

· Middle Notes-Jasmine Sambac, Moss

· Base Notes-Jacarander Wood, Musk, Vanilla

This scent was first “put on me” a couple years after its release on a first date that turned into a long term thing. This is a good memory fragrance. I don’t imagine it would smell the same on someone else but this scent is to my knowledge a signature scent of the person that comes to mind.

I have seen Hypnotic Poison by Dior described as well hypnotic and mesmerizing. If you want a new scent to throw on that hapless guy you’ve been stalking or looking for a scent to get your lady, I believe you can’t go wrong with Hypnotic Poison.

4. Armani Mania for Women by Armani-Mania for women was a 2004 release the falls in my Top 5 Favorite perfumes on your lady list. Armani Mania for Women features:

· Top Notes-Black Currant, Green Mandarin Orange, Moroccan Bay Leaf Pink Pepper

· Middle Notes-Iris, Magnolia, Muget, Peony

· Base Notes-Amber, Cedar, Musk, Vanilla, White Sandalwood

This is another “takes me back there” scents that remind me of a single special person. This one wasn’t a long term relationship by any means but I would classify it as a “right on time” situation. By that I mean this was a situation where two people going through changes came together at the right time to help each other out and then moved on when the work was done. In other words, a no harm no foul situation.

The notes in this fragrance that stick out to me are the citrus notes the mandarin orange provides and a little spicy oomph the pink pepper gives up. The combination of the musk and vanilla in the base notes give the male libido a jump start.

Another good choice for a woman who wants a man to think of her when this old scent grabs him by the nose when he least expects. This scent sometimes makes me want to make a call to that blast from the past.

3. Contradiction for Women by Calvin Klein-Contradiction for Women is another older scent I really don’t smell on a lot of women these days. The women I do smell it on generally are perky and upbeat (at least when I smell it on them) probably because of the citrus notes in this perfume. Citrus notes tend to help with concentration and mood. Contradiction features:

· Top Notes- Bergamot, Jasmine, Rose

· Middle Notes are-Cedar, Moss, Vanilla

· Base Notes- Sandalwood, Oak moss, Musk

By now even the most non-observant reader may have noticed my favorite scents feature a few of the same notes including citrus notes, musk and vanilla. Vanilla is thought to be an aphrodisiac. Vanilla is believed to raise (no pun intended) the sexual desires in men. Think back to the old Beverly Hillbilly reruns, before courting, granny would dab a little vanilla extra behind her ear.

I have a friend whose boyfriend isn’t the most ready to hit the sack guy, to spark this boy up, she’ll bake up a batch of cookies or a cake just to shake him up. The vanilla in her recipe gets him ready to go and I’m sure the scent also puts him back in the day when he had nothing else to worry about other eating, sleeping and drinking when he was living at home.

There you are a free suggestion on getting your dude ready to make love.

2. Vera Wang Princess by Vera Wang-Released in 2006, Princess by Vera Wang is the most recent release on my short list. This perfume features:

· Top Notes- Ivy, Tangerine, Water, Lily

· Middle Notes- Jasmine, Mimosa Orange Flower, Rose,Sambac

· Base Notes- Amber, Apricot Skin, Musk, Precious Woods, Vanilla

It’s no surprise this perfume also features citrus and vanilla notes. What can I say? In my humble opinion, this perfume smells a little different on every woman I’ve smelled it on. Body chemistry has a lot to do with how a fragrance smells on a person.

I’ve yet to notice this perfume not smell good on who ever I come across who is wearing it. This is a very popular scent but will morphs based on the person who wears it. Princess by Vera Wang will make a good addition to any woman’s fragrance collection. In other words, it will make a great gift for that special woman in your life.

1.Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel – Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel was released in 2001. This perfume is marketed towards the younger 20 something crowd but in my humble opinion, this scent works well for an older woman filled with confidence. Coco Mademoiselle is chock full of citrus notes as well as:

· Top Notes-Bergamot, Orange,Grapefruit

· Middle Notes-Jasmine, Litchi, Rose

· Base Notes- Bourbon Vanilla,Indonesian Patchouli, Haitian Vetiver, White Musk

This perfume is number one on my list for a couple of reasons. One, it smells great. Two, I’ll tell you my second reason if you can keep a secret. Don’t tell anyone now..

Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel nearly causes me to lose my mind on the first whiff. The notes in this perfume especially the vanilla and musk combine to make an expensive aphrodisiac in a bottle. In other words, to me this perfume is "Liquid Sex."

I would imagine older women may shy away from a perfume marketed to the younger crowd. I’m here to say, whether you’re a man or woman, don’t let slick marketing keep you from trying a perfume or cologne that at first glance may seem to be too old or too young for you.
