The Top 10 Wished For Colognes-The Best Gifts For Men

With Valentine day fast approaching, I thought I would share my thoughts on 10 of the most wished for colognes for men based on my internet research.

10-Chrome by Azzaro for Men-Released in 1996, Chrome comes in 10th on my wish list. Chrome features top notes Bergamot, Lemon, Neroli, Pineapple and Rosemary that give this cologne a nice open strong citrus opening that mellows out as the middle and base notes take hold. Chrome makes a nice scent for work, school or first date scent in that it isn’t over powering.

9- L'eau D'Issey Pour Homme-Released in 1994 L'eau D'Issey hits the list at number 9. This is a scent I picked up simply because I heard ladies around the office talking how great a guy smelled. This guy was one of those suave mothers we all know. L'eau D'Issey technically a mature scent that anyone who is mature at heart or wants to project maturity should get hold of. Don’t think of a mature cologne as an old cologne.

A mature cologne can be your best friend in a setting where you find yourself surrounded by guys wearing Acqua Di Gio(#2 on my wish list by the way) or some sort of Axe spray. You’re going to stand out and show you do more than follow the crowd. This is “what are you wearing” fragrance. Always a great ice breaker.

8- L'Homme Yves Saint Laurent-checking in at number 8, L'Homme Yves Saint Laurent, released in 2006 was one of the best selling men’s cologne in 2010. This fragrance features great citrus/spicy opening compliments of the Bergamot, Ginger and Lemon notes. L'Homme Yves Saint Laurent is fairly strong but not overwhelming cologne that can hold its own against cigarette smoke.

7- Paco Rabanne 1 Million-Released in 2008 is a scent I would suggest for a special evening out. This frag would also make a nice choice for wedding or other special outings. This powerful scent would also play well as a nice smoky place scent as it is pretty powerful. A little goes a long way. Paco Rabanne 1 Million based on the numbers is a popular scent but I just don’t smell it much if at all in my little world making it one of my signature scents that lasts forever.

6-Cool Water by Davidoff -Released in 1988 Cool Water is the oldest cologne on our list. While long lived, this cologne is far from old. A testament to a well put together fragrance that wears well on anyone who is looking for a nice summer scent or wants to bring a whiff of summer to the cold winter.

5-Nautica Voyage by Nautica –Released in 2006 Voyage would probably a cologne that would rank high if I were thinking of colognes that work well at work, school or a first date scent. This fragrance wears well, let’s people know it’s there without smacking them in the nose.

4-LeMale by Jean Paul Gaultier –LeMale in the blue body shaped bottle was the first head turner, “what are you wearing” cologne I purchased shortly after its release in 2005. LeMale comes out of the bottle strong and stays that way pretty much my entire work day. Strong but not overwhelming.

3-Kenneth Cole Black-Released in 2003 KC Black makes the list at #3 on the list. This cologne in my opinion is just a tad too powerful to make a good work or school scent but would work well in a bar or club setting where it would definitely hold its own in a battle for nose time with the cigarette smoke that fills the air in these places.

2-Acqua Di Gio-Released in 1996 quickly became the signature scent of college dudes all over the country. Other than smelling this cologne everywhere on everyone you would be hard pressed to find a complaint from man, woman or child. Well I take that back, I have heard a woman or two say they hate it because an ex wore it all the time.

Acqua Di Gio isn’t wouldn’t rank the highest on favorites in my cologne inventory (99 bottles as of this writing) or the lowest. To be honest, I bought it because a woman told me she loved it. Sigh, I know, men can be suckers some time but don’t tell anyone I said so.

Nautica makes for a long lasting work, school or first date scent that.
